Necsa Supports The 2014 Sasol Solar Challenge

Elliot Mulane, Necsa Corporate communication; Annalie van Vuuren, Sasol Solar Challenge Project Coordinator; and Paula Jansen van Rensburg, at the launch of the 2014 Sasol Solar Challenge held on Saturday 30 August 2014 at Zwartkops.

The Sasol Solar Challenge is an event that brings Engineering to the test. This year’s challenge starts on 27 September 2014 in Pretoria (CSIR) and draws to a close 8 days later in Cape Town. It is expected that the teams will cover a total distance of 6000km using only solar energy. These vehicles represent the pinnacle of electric vehicle and solar technology research. Follow the race here.

Necsa is sponsoring the 2014 Sasol Solar Challenge by providing floor space for the local and international racing teams to assemble their electric cars at Building V-X4. While driving on Necsa site, look out for solar cars being tested on our roads and remember that technically speaking, the solar cars run on nuclear energy since the sun is a huge fusion reactor providing energy for the cars.
